Savage Shadowrun: The release with more equipment

Hello folks

I have made a new version of the Savage Shadowrun rulebook. The main attraction is a bunch of new equipment i have cooked up, including
  • Fake Licenses
  • Security and Survival gear
  • Sensors, cameras and other such things
  • Comms and Jammers
Likewise, the Gear packages have been changed slightly to accommodate the new equipment. I have also written down rules for how to handle Maglocks in a sensible way.

The new rules are up now in the archive to the right.

Minor Cleanup and Simplification

I went through the document once more and took a critical look at some of the rules i wrote a good while back, and whether or not i actually used them in play. This resulted in some changes. After all, art is never finished, only abandoned.

Contact levels are gone. A Contact is just a Contact now. This also means a minor change to the character sheets and character creation. I couldn't recall a single instance where the a contact's level came into play in the years i have been playing the game.

A few of the Edges has been changed as well.
  • The most important is that the Rigger edges no longer require any Hacking skill. They now require Repair (drone) skill ranks instead.
  • Drone Controller has been changed to Veteran, since i found that a sidekick with two initiative passes was a bit much for a Seasoned character. 
  • Combat Biker now requires Driving at D8, instead of the Ace edge.
  • Sprawlsman has been clarified a bit.
The Wanted Hindrance is gone and works as normal. I don't know why i put it there in the first place. The Uneducated Hindrance has also been changed to be less fiddly and more in line with what it means to be uneducated. The Charisma penalty stems from the fact that highly educated people have massively different base assumptions than uneducated people, which often results in people speaking past each other.

Shadowrun 2050 is live!

The long-awaited Savage Shadowrun 2050 Supplement is finally up and done. Major features include
  • Cyberdecks: Building them, Buying them and Using them.
  • Rules for Magic Traditions.
  • A slew of new Cyberware and Bioware.
  • All the other equipment you would need to work the shadows back in the good old days.
  • Updated Gear Packages.
But wait! There's more!

There is also a major update to the regular Savage Shadowrun ruleset.
  • Archetypes are now included similar to those found in the Savage Worlds Deluxe: Explorers Edition. 
  • The Matrix rules have been revised. 
    • You can now connect as many services and devices to your nodes as you want to. This saves characters from having to invest in massive commlinks when they're not really hackers to begin with.
    • There are now three attack programs: Attack, Black Hammer and Poison. They function as weapons in the matrix, and each rating adds another die to your damage pool.
      • Attack harms digital entities
      • Black Hammer harms Hackers / Deckers
      • Poison adds Damage over Time to your attacks. 
  • New Combat Edge: Throwing Expertise
    • Makes throwing viable in the Sixth world by allowing you to chuck loads of thrown weapons at your opponents, instead of just one. 
  • Smartgun systems no longer provide a flat +1 to shooting
  • Spell Fetishes have been removed from the game. 
    • They added little to the game in terms of meaningful choice.
  • Tailored Pheromones now increase the users Wild Die rather than giving a flat bonus
  • Spirits in the appendix actually have statblocks now.

Minor Release of the Shadowrun Ruleset

I found some time and inspiration, and took a look at cleaning up some of the bad decisions i made in ages past
  • New Edge: Throwing Expertise. This edge allows you to chuck shuriken at people at a higher rate, making ninjas a viable concept.
  • added descriptions for Narcojet weapons
  • changed a few edges from +x bonuses to something else. Some increase your wild die in certain situations, others have different bonuses.
  • Smartlinks no longer give you a +1 to shooting
  • Fetishes no longer exist. They were a needless complication from a Savage Worlds point of view.
  • Minor cleanups of layouts

And we are live!

Hello fellow traveler of the internet.

This blog will act as a host page and a change log for my Savage Shadowrun conversion. At the time of writing, i have the ruleset for playing in the 2070's completed, along with two different character sheets.

On my todo list is a revision of my companion for playing in the 2050's and possibly a GM's guide or Bestiary.

I have been working on and off on this conversion for about 4 years now, and it should have everything needed to play. You'll find the link to the file archive in the sidebar.
